Happy 4th of July Friend! I hope you’re having a wonderful day no matter what you’re doing! Today I’m sharing a little love note from me to you about what today means to me.
I have to say, I love the 4th. I love what it represents, what it means + what it brings together. To me, this holiday is all about patriotism, being proud of our country, celebrating the birth of America + it’s history- the good + the bad. I know we have our problems + we aren’t solving them or dealing with them the best way but its not the country’s fault. Thats our fault. We can do better + I believe that we will do better. But I’m not here to talk about that. I’m here to talk about the country’s rich history + how it evolved through the years. Because to me, thats what America is full of.
Since the 4th is America’s birthday I always start to think of all the things the country has seen since its as formed. The people who have been here, the events that have taken place, the shift of thinking + lifestyles. Oh and don’t forget the moderation of fashion, houses technology. The way the landscape as changed + yet stayed the same.
I think of the wars that have been fought + won here. The battles we lost as well. I think about how the country has seen the world change so much + I kinda wonder what it must be thinking of the current state of the world right now. Because lets be honest, its quite difference from 1776 when it was born.
The 4th brings people together. Family + friends get together to celebrate America with parties, good food and all sporting proud American clothing. Parties with matching red white + blue decor + food theme. Hot dogs + hamburgers being staple foods + fireworks always end the night on a bang.
Pinterest is scoured + poured over weeks in advance for fun + creative ways to turn things American + patriotic. I mean the things people come up with to make the American flag out of food is pretty awesome. Not to mention all the red white + blue things. That’s one of my favorite parts about the 4th because I love a good themed party ha!
I am so blessed to be born in The United States of America! Yes, I love to travel + see other parts of the world but I am so glad that I can always call America home, that when I do come home, its to America. I am a proud American + always will be, no matter the bad because I believe that the good does + will out weigh the bad, even though it doesn’t feel like it sometimes.
Happy 246th birthday America! I hope this next year is full of amazing things for you + us. A year full of growth, a year full of coming together as one + most of all year full of love + kindness towards you + us.
