✨ Friday Favorites: The Real Reason for This Season ✨

reason for the season

✨ 8 MORE SLEEPS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!✨ Can you believe it?! With Christmas so close I wanted to talk about my version of the real reason for this season. To me, there is really two main reason. 1. Jesus + 2. Giving

#1. I’m pretty sure most people have a gist of the Christmas story, explains the birth of Jesus + his purpose on this Earth. He took on all our Sin so we could go to Heaven. He showed us what true love is + how to give it. To love everyone + be kind to them no matter their social status, religions, race, sex, how society sees them, etc. Jesus showed us how forgiving + loving His Father is, how He is always with us, will always forgive us as long as we ask + most important, always love us no matter what we do. He taught how material objects are just that, objects. That was really matters is our love for God + to love each of our neighbors as we love ourselves.

But I’ve been thinking about the story of His birth but from Mary’s perspective. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it was for her to ride the donkey to Bethlehem. Then she probably had a vision for how + where she was going to have her previous baby. I’m thinking in a manager probably wasn’t it. It’s a nice reminder that just believe things aren’t the way or go the way we think or want them to be, doesn’t mean they aren’t beautiful + full of purpose.

#2. I always would roll my eyes at the expression “It is better to give than to receive” when I was younger to be honest. I knew I needed to give but I didn’t understand the true meaning behind the expression. At that age I never understood the pure joy of gift giving. It wasn’t until my brothers were older + I helped my Daddeee Christmas shop that I discovered how fun giving really is!

I would make sure that they had all the gifts we could get + I couldn’t wait for Christmas morning so I could give it them + watch them open it. Now that I’m older I LOVE giving gifts! In fact so many times I can’t wait until Christmas to my gifts ha! I love thinking of each person + what they would love and I really try to be intentional about what I give. I think about the past year + conversations we have, things that they’ve said in passing they’d like, etc. And when I find it, I’m filled with such joy + excitement that I can’t wait to give my gift. So now I really understand + believe that it is better to give than receive all year round but especially this time of year!
