✨Book Recommendations #1: Wellness + Faith✨

Hello Hello Friend! I hope you’re having a great day! One of my favorite things to do is read. I LOVE learning new things but what I love the most about reading is that it can take you into worlds you never knew of before, or only dreamed of. They are one of the best escapes! Today I’m sharing the first book recommendation/review + all the books are about improving my wellness/health but mostly about inspiring stories that inspire myself to better my faith. I’m always looking for ways to have healthier + happy lifestyle in all aspects of my life. These books help do just that. I have so many more books I love in this “category” + other categories but I didn’t want it to be overwhelming. So stay tuned for more book recommendations + reviews! Oh yeah and these are in no particular order, I LOVE them all!! [* Disclaimer: All summaries of each book are taken from the back of the books. I’m horrible at summing up things so I figured it was best to go to the source ha!*] So here we go!

Everybody Always by Bob Goff

“In the entertaining and inspiring follow up to the New York Times bestselling phenomenon, Love Does, Bob Goff takes readers on a journey into the secret of living without fear, constraint, or worry. The path toward the liberated existence we all long for is found in a truth as simple to say it wish and to do: love people, even the difficult ones, without distinction and without limits.

“Driven by Bob’s trade markets story telling, Everybody, Always reveals the lessons Bob learned- often the hard way- about what it means to love without inhibition, insecurity, or restriction. From finding the right friends to discovering the upside of failure, Everybody, Always points the way to embodying love by doing the unexpected, the intimidating, the seemingly impossible. Whether losing his shoes while skydiving solo or befriending a Ugandan witch doctor, Bob steps into life with a no limits embrace of others that is as infectious as it extraordinary ordinary, Everybody, Always reveals how we can do the same.”

I could NOT put this book down! It was absolutely amazing! So freaking inspiring to live life hard + love hard + be like Jesus hard! [If that makes sense lol]  I read the books out of order but its okay, you don’t need to read them in order. Before I even finished this book I ordered Love Does!

Love Does by Bob Goff

“As a college student he spent sixteen days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a create of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursed his life for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren’t good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the dean’s office for seven days until they finally let him enroll

“Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his f friends consider him the world’s best kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book, and he finally did. It’s full of paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the world’s most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But it’s not the kinds of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bob is convinced love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

“When Love Does, life gets interesting. Each day turns into a hilarious, whimsical, meaningful chance to make faith simple and real. Each chapter is a story that forms book, a life. And this is one life you don’t want to miss.

Light and fun, unique and profound, the lessons drawn from Bob’s life and attitude just might inspire you to be secretly incredible too.”

Oh my stars! This book + author are so inspiring in so many ways! From living + loving hard to walking with + being like Jesus more. Can not recommend this book more!

“The work you do today matters for eternity.

“We were created by an infinitely creative God to reflect his love and character to the world. One way we do that is by continuing his creative work. In this energizing book, serial entrepreneur and bestselling author Jordan Raynor helps artists, entrepreneurs writers, and other creative reimagine our work as service to God and others, addressing such penetrating questions as:

  • Is my work as a creative really as important as that of a pastor or missionary?
  • What does it look like to create not to make a name for myself by to glorify God and server others?
  • How can I use my work to fulfill Jesus’ command to create disciples?
  • Will what I make today matter in eternity

“Includes compelling stories from an eclectic group of 40+ Christian entrepreneurs including the founder of TOMS Shoes, Charity: Water, Chick-fil-A, In-N -Out Burger, Guiness, HTC, and Sevenly as well as nontraditional entrepreneurs such as C.S. Lewis, Johann Sebastian Bach, and J.R.R Tolkien.”

I bought this book because I was + truthfully still am torn as to own my own business yet follow God + give Him all the glory. Is what I want to do with Sparkle and Shine Bright, LLC something that will sever God + others in a way that is needed? How can I make a difference in the world? Is what I want to do part of God’s plan for me? The list of questions I have/had go on.  This book helped me to see that God was a creator just like me + its okay to make a living + serve Him at the same time.

The Wellness Remodel By Christina Anstead + Cara Clark

“STOP SURVIVING. STOP THRIVING!

Christina Anstead, star of HGTV’s Flip of Flop and Christina on the Coast, is known for her boundless energy and radiant looks. But hidden from fans of her popular television shoes as a serious medical crisis, including dual diagnoses of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and polycystic ovary syndrome- autoimmune conditions that left her exhausted and depleted. Add to that the emotional stress of a very public divorce, and Christina’s already strained health hit rock bottom.

“Luckily, that’s when she met nutritionist Cara Clark, who helped Christina rehab her life lifestyle and remodel her health. Now, in The Wellness Remodel, Christina and Cara share the life-changing path that allowed Christina to regain her strength and heal her mind and spirit.

“For the first time, Christina opens up about the details of her journey and shares her new approach to wellnes: nourishing her body with more food (not less!), exercising smarter (not harder!), and making more time for practices that nourish her mental and spiritual well-being. The result? Today she’s living the life of her dreams and feels better than ever before.

“With more than fifty recipes, a workout plan, advice for managing stress, and guidance for connecting to your spirit, The Wellness Remodel will show you how to stop surviving- and start thriving!”

I bought this book because I follow Christina on IG and felt that I could relate to her ya know? Not saying that we’re BFF’s or anything ha! But I felt that because she graciously let her fans see glimpses into her life that I “knew” her better than a random author of a similar book ya know?

I also really appreciated the honestly of both authors + that they view health as in more than just your body but also your mind, soul, spirit + faith. I also appreciated the easy recipes although truth be told, I’ve yet to make one lol.

They took the whole body and offer natural, organic ways of healing + nourishing your body which I also found really interesting. I’m not knocking modern medicine because I am a big fan of it, lemme tell you! But I also feel very strongly about using + absorbing as less chemicals + preservatives as possible + eating more plant based foods, as well as only the food that God provided.

I really enjoyed this book! I even go back to it several times to refresh my self on certain aspects or check out the recipes + exercises. Highly recommend this book!!
