Hey there Friend! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Hump Day! Two more sleeps until the weekend! I hope your week is going well + ends on a great note!
I’ve seen the questions, “What would you tell your 20 year self?” and/or “What would you tell yourself in your 20’s?” on a lot of IG questions from people I follow. And I have to say, it got me thinking about what I would say to 20 year old self.
To start I’d tell myself to not let fear run my life. And I think thats a good lesson for all ages. I was very careful + cautious in my 20’s, I rarely left my comfort zone. I look back and remember many missed chances + opportunities all because I was scared. I’d tell myself that the answer is always no unless you ask. To take the risk so you never have to wonder what would have happened if you did. Try everything at least once, not matter if you’re good or not at it.
Another big lesson I wished I learned at a younger age that I’d tell my 20 year told is know your worth. Your worth is NOT defined by ANY number in your life. Numbers like, your age, weight, the size of your clothing, the amount of money in your bank, the age you are when you graduate, get married, have kids, etc.
To me, one of my biggest flaws is I spend WAY too much money on things that I don’t need. It’s my coping mechanism for dealing with stress lol. I would tell my younger self to keep the plastic in your wallet. That the things you want to buy you won’t want forever + to save the money for products of better quality or for fun + long trips to see the world.
Something that I learned just last year is that its super important to take care of yourself, but especially your health. I would tell my younger self that its okay to ask for help + even more important to take it! Make your health a priority, mental, spiritual + emotional. It’s okay to need to take a break + rest, from work, school. people. left etc. Just don’t live there.
To piggy back off that, I’d tell myself to embrace the rough seasons. It’s okay to not be okay for al little while. Feel + embrace the feelings but don’t let them run your life. Feel them, embrace them, work through them, grow from the rough times. Don’t stop growing + evolving into the beautiful [if I do say so myself ha!] person you are + meant to be!
And finally, last but not least, find joy in the little things! Be intentionally about EVERYTHING in your life, for tomorrow’s not promised. Be intentional about what you eat, products you buy, the people you surround yourself with, what you spend your energy + time on, etc. And maybe the most important: be intentional to find joy + happiness in all things.
Oh + always be kind! You don’t know what someone else is going through. I feel like EVERYONE today needs this reminder.
