Hello Hello! I hope you had a great week! Because today is Good Friday to my fellow Christians I wanted to continue sharing Faith related content. So today I’m sharing what my quiet time looks like, the books I use, how I store them, etc. Just to clarify, everything I’m saying is solely MY thoughts + beliefs. I am certainly not trying to change yours, I’m simply sharing what I do + maybe it will help you in some way.
To start my day, each morning I fill up a large water bottle with hot water + lemon, grab my basket with all my materials and get comfy. I keep all my materials in a pretty basket because its the best way to keep everything organized. I can easily grab what I need with ease.
First, I start with reading Jesus Calling’s daily devotion + the scriptures that go with it for the day in my Chronological Life Application Study Bible, NLT Version. As I read I underline anything that sparks something or really hits me ya know?
After I read the devotional I take out a sparkle notebook [are we surprised of the sparkles ha!] I write a letter to God and thank him for everything he has done for me. I tell Him my thoughts, fears, dreams. I tell Him my struggles + ask Him for wisdom + guidance for the best way dealing + handling them. To me, this is the most important part of my routine because talking to God + being in consistent communication with him is best.
In addition to my morning quiet time, I like to end the day by reading a book about farthing my Faith + relationship with God. The books are also about Faith, God, Jesus, applying scripture messages to my everyday life, etc. I do this because its a great way to end the day! The books I choose are encouraging + inspirational. As I’m reading I take notes in another notebook about what I think is important.
The best part about quiet time as with faith, is it’s super personal. There is no right or wrong way. You can set up your quiet time the best way that fits your life style.
✨ All Products + Books ✨
Jesus Calling by Sarah Young – This is the second time I’m reading this. It’s a year round devotional that has a devotion + scripture verses to go with it. It is very encouraging + a great way to start my day.
What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Lysa Terkeurst- I am currently reading this + LOVE it! It is so relatable. It really ties scripture to everyday life + I feel like thats super important in my faith journey.
Chronological Life Application Study Bible [NLT]– I have had this Bible for a little over a year now + am so happy I have it with my quiet time. I like the tone of the wording + the life application part. It has charts, maps + beautiful imagery that corresponds to the scripture. It really brings home the message.
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero– I read this book while doing a group Bible Study. It had videos from the author to go with each chapter. I really enjoyed reading the book because it also applied Biblical scripture to everyday life. It states that “It’s impossible to be Spiritually Mature while Remaining Emotionally Immature.” I believe that to be truly healthy you have to be healthy in body, mind + spirit.
Called to Create by Jordan Raymor– I so excited to start this book and see how it helps me “create” for Sparkle! It’s theory we’ll call it, is that we were created by God and when we create we reflect his love + character to the world. I don’t know about you, but thats beautiful. It comes with great reviews!
Everybody Always by Bob Goff– I haven’t started this book yet either but the description on the cover is what sold me on it. “BECOMING LOVE in a WORLD FULL of SETBACKS and DIFFICULT PEOPLE.” I’m hoping it will give me another way of looking at setbacks + difficult people.
Jesus Politics by Phil Robertson– I haven’t read this yet but I have loved every other book by Phil Robertson + his family. They are such an inspirational family! Their faith was tested in many hard ways yet they held strong, kept their faith + came out even stronger.
Notebook– Any will do, but I really liked this one because of the cover.
Thank you so much for being here it means so much to me! 🤍
Always Sparkle and Shine Bright…
xoxo,
Jen
